The Artist
Hi. I'm Sara, the artist of Brutal Sun Studio. I'm also the storyteller, the costume-designer, and the web-designer. I hope you've enjoyed your time here on this website.
I live in Northern Colorado, out east of Fort Collins, on the Front Range. Aside from art, some of my activities include horseback riding, aquarium keeping, weight lifting, running, and writing. Oh, and did I mention writing? Boy, do I love to write! It's the only thing I'm really prolific at. But I'll spare you a ton of blah, blah, blah, about myself. Instead I'll show you a few of my favorite pictures (mostly of horses, of course). With... a little bit of narration.
Rhea
Rhea is my six year old wild-born BLM mustang. At one time, she wouldn't let anyone touch her; she'd run through the fence if someone even tried. Now little kids can jump all over her. She's got a lot of "conquistador" in her, or what they call "old" mustang blood. Isn't she cute?
Wanna know a secret? I hate having my picture taken. My mom dragged me out to the stable to get some "glamour" shots. Despite how it looks, Rhea wasn't being so cooperative, either. She kept trying to run over Mom.
Another of those shots. She's thinking about running over Mom again. And I'm slouching. Must be the heat. It was sweltering that day.
Notice I'm bareback. I didn't own a saddle at the time. That was great for my balance.
Rhea and a young buddy of hers. The saddle was borrowed from a friend.
Twins! And they're dancing! Rhea, outside, and her best friend, Luna, inside. Actually they're not really twins. But they sure look it.
Twins again! Well almost; Luna has a crescent moon on her forehead. You don't want to know what these curious youngsters are sampling!
Bubba
Bubba is my seven year old blue-point Himalayan. She looks angelic in this picture. But that's a deception of hers. She's full of attitude. My dad has always insisted that she and Garfield are really the same cat. He's probably right. Like Garfield, she snores loudly. Especially while I'm working on dolls.
