Wildflurry
Once upon a time, on a planet outside the boundaries of the great Empire, lived a beautiful princess named Wildflurry. According to legend, she was named so because she was born outside in a snowstorm, like a wild critter, somewhere between the queen's landed starship and a government administration compound.
As was the case with many places outside the great Empire, the government and many of the inhabitants of Wildflurry's planet were dark, corrupt, and uncaring. In fact, it was said that their hearts were colder than the chunk of ice they lived on.
But not Wildflurry. She was different from them; she was empathetic, and full of passion. No one could really explain how she turned out that way. Some people would say she was just born that way. Others would say it was from a time when she disguised herself as a lowly slave out of mischief, and learned how hard it was being treated like one. And a few would say it was because she had an important destiny, picked out for her by the Great Divine himself.
From a young age, while her sisters would lie around barking commands at slaves, she would be outside in the snow peppering the palace guards with questions. Or playing with the cook's son. Or handing tools to the king's starship technician. Or perhaps quietly watching people down on the main street from her high window.
As she grew older, she became keenly interested in the plight of the lower class people and slaves. At first she would give to the poor, or buy slaves and then free them. But eventually she started doing something outright dangerous. On dark stormy nights, when visibility was low, and the scan rays were disrupted, she would creep into the king's cold dungeon to free prisoners who were kept there for reasons that seemed horrifically unfair to her. Also, she started being outspoken in court, boldly rebuking the cruelty of the government.
The common people came to love her. But the politicians and royals began to despise her.
Eventually, her father became so angry with her because of her political actions that he threw her in his dungeon... the very same dungeon she would sneak into to free prisoners. Soon afterwards, he learnt of these freed prisoners, and became so angry, he ordered that she be tortured and then beheaded at dawn, to "restore harmony and power" to the royal family.
